The Ultimate Work Tote

Ok Gena, I know you are dieing to know about the school supply situation. I don't know if you'll be entirely happy with what I have to report so far, but I have until Monday so the mission isn't over yet. I did make a trip to Fred Meyer this evening to purchase some last needed "school supplies". Rick went with me and was entertaining himself by repeating everything he heard around him. This meant every time a Mom or Grandma would ask the elementary school student in tow "do you want a High School Musical pencil sharpener?", Rick would say "Kim, do you want a High School Musical pencil sharpener?" I quickly sent him the the electronics department so I could be alone. After gathering the notepads and pens I needed, I thought I would check out the handbag/tote section. I am planning on getting my official messenger bag this weekend, but I needed something to use on day 2 of orientation to carry my stuff. What I didn't know is that the options are pretty much limited to the Hannah Montana backpack or "The Ultimate Work Tote" with matching wallet and organizer. Hmmm...so they don't actually have a cute-yet-sophisticated-law-school-bag section?

Orientation

I know you are wondering if I survived the first day of orientation. I did! And I even met some really cool friends - three of them. There is hope! The morning was mostly moving around to different rooms listening to different people tell you all the things you need to do. For the QandA session, they grouped us according to the first letter of our last name. This meant I was in a room with lots of Wongs, Wangs, and Wus. Only one Villanueva though. Lunch was a good time.We were searching for a table with 4 empty seats and actually found one in the middle of the room. What this really meant was that I ate lunch with the president of Lewis & Clark college (hence the reason for the empty seats). I have a feeling the rest of our classmates are slightly more observant than we are. However, I'm sure none of them could tell you why the college mascot for the Lewis & Clark Pioneers is a black New Foundland Terrier named Pio that doesn't even actually exist (FYI, I strongly encouraged Mr. Prez to go get an actual dog). According to Mr. Prez, Lewis & Clark had a dog with them on their journey (I have a feeling history class isn't a required course at L&C). Yes, Mr. Prez, and all the children died of Malaria, they lost two oxen while fording the river and their wagon wheels were constantly breaking. I played the Oregon Trail game too. After lunch, we had our first Legal Analysis & Writing class, bought our books, and then went home. 1 down, 1 to go.
